When you awake the morning and the pain slices through your mind,
on opening your eyes, you grab hold of hope, all of it you could ever find,
fuelling your day and so you rise to the occasion, like you rise out of bed,
obviously some days are better, some days burden you like tonnes of lead.

And when you are ready to face the world on another uncertain day,
you give us a sweet loving smile to tell us all is still okay,
although there is still mountains to climb and oceans to swim ,
you give us that smile which means you will never give in.

Like all who are like you every footstep ahead is danger,
a danger that follows you around like your shadow ,
a pest, a thief or maybe a unwelcome stranger ,
but you still embrace it like a long lost friend.

Tomorrow, well it comes and goes and leaves another scar,
its not really so polite , it doesn’t ask how you are,
you have just got to take a large deep breath, let out a sigh,
be strong for yourself but don’t be too scared to cry.

And when the crying is over and the red eyes start to disappear,
you give us that sweet tender smile to tell us have no fear,
although at times you feel a sadness which could weaken your heart,
you take every day one step at a time, each day a new start.

You have your memories and you will have your dreams,
you will have your set backs, when hope is ripped at the seams,
there will be dark days when you find it hard to survive,
and hot summers days when you are glad to be alive.

Some days you will be left with your thoughts and you will ask why?,
the same old questions of why do we live and of course why do we die,
but after some reflection and maybe a loss of some tears,
your zest of life will reappear and your torment disappears.

And there it is again for all the whole wide world to see,
you give them the smile that they hoped to see,
showing everyone a incurable disease isn’t all sorrow,
then you kiss the world goodbye, and add “see you all tomorrow”.
