I watch her from the door
As she plays along the shore
She digs her toes into the sand
Builds a castle from the land
A wave sweeps past her knees
She giggles, as if to tease
A bucket, shovel, sand and water
Easily occupy my daughter
She has a smile, when she looks up at me
My child so happy by the sea
She is alone, but not lonely
Her playmate is the sea.
